Sunny and treeless lands that are not exposed to cold winds are suitable for planting saffron. The maximum suitable temperature for this plant is 35 to 40 degrees Celsius and it has shown good performance at an altitude of 1300 to 2300 meters above sea level.
I have tried Saffron from Spain and Iran, The Iranian one was way more different and better than the Spanish one in taste and smell and the color.
I think its all because of Iran weather and its nutritious soil and all the needed situation to grow saffron.
